About Yankee Stadium, New York City FC's home ground

Without a permanent home ground of their own at this stage, New York City plays the majority of their home matches at the famous Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, NYC.

Plans are in place to build a new stadium at Willets Point in time for the 2026 World Cup, where it will be used as a training site, after which New York City will move in.

The Yankee Stadium is situated in The Bronx and has a capacity of 28,743 for soccer matches. The stadium was built between 2006 and 2009 before opening in April 2009 for an exhibition match for the New York Yankees.

New York City moved in as tenants in 2015 and have remained so ever since. However, the ground is not deemed suitable for CONCACAF Champions League matches, so New York City FC play at other grounds in and around New York in continental tournaments.
