About Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's home ground
Stamford Bridge was opened in 1877 and was initially used by the London Athletic Club until 1905, when Chelsea Football Club were founded.
It most recently underwent renovation in the 1990s to turn it into a modern, all-seater stadium and is also the location of a luxury hotel.
Four stands make up Stamford Bridge, with the East Stand and West Stands along the sides of the pitch and the Matthew Harding Stand and Shed End behind either goal.
As well as football, Stamford Bridge has hosted cricket, rugby union, rugby league, Major League Baseball, speedway, American football, and greyhound racing.

The nearest Underground station to Stamford Bridge is Fulham Broadway on the District Line, which is ¼ mile away and has a dedicated match-day entrance for easier entry and exit from the station.
On the District and Piccadilly Lines, Earl’s Court is just over a mile away, while Southern Rail and London Overground services stop at Imperial Wharf (1km) and West Brompton (1.3km) within walking distance of the ground.
Chelsea Harbour Pier is ¾ mile away, allowing fans to travel by ferry on London River Services along the River Thames. At the same time, several bus routes stop at Walham Green (routes 11, 14, 211, 414, N11) and Fulham Town Hall (28, 295, 391, 424, N28), very close to Stamford Bridge.
