Boxing Day: A Classic English Football Tradition

The Premier League would not feel quite the same without Boxing Day football. The day after Christmas remains one of the most iconic moments of the English football calendar, offering supporters packed stadiums, festive atmospheres and a full round of fixtures.

On Saturday, December 26th, 2026, the Premier League will once again deliver a complete Boxing Day schedule. Newcastle United vs Manchester City stands out as one of the biggest matches of the day. Arsenal will travel across London to face Crystal Palace, while Liverpool visit newly promoted Hull City.

For travelling fans, Boxing Day is one of the best times of the season to experience English football at its most traditional: cold weather, full stands, intense fixtures and a unique holiday atmosphere.

International Breaks

One of the major features of the 2026-2027 Premier League calendar is the longer autumn break. After the round of fixtures scheduled around Saturday, September 19th, 2026, the league will pause until Saturday, October 10th, 2026.

A second international break will follow in November. Premier League football will stop after the matches of Saturday, November 7th, 2026, and resume on Saturday, November 21st, 2026.

The final major interruption of the season will come in the spring. After the weekend of Saturday, March 20th, 2027, the league will pause again before returning on Saturday, April 10th, 2027. These breaks could play an important role in the rhythm of the campaign, especially for clubs competing in Europe and those with large groups of international players.

Final Matchday of the 2026-2027 Premier League Season

The 38th and final matchday will take place on Sunday, May 30th, 2027. As tradition demands, all matches will be played at the same time.

Arsenal will finish their season at home against Brighton & Hove Albion. Liverpool will host Bournemouth, Manchester United will welcome Fulham to Old Trafford, and Manchester City will travel to Sunderland. Depending on how the season unfolds, the final day could carry major consequences in the title race, the battle for Champions League qualification and the fight to avoid relegation.
