About Santiago Bernabéu, R. Madrid's home ground
The Santiago Bernabéu stadium is home to Real Madrid Club de Fútbol and is one of the most famous stadiums in Spain and worldwide. The arena was completed in 1947 and named after former Real Madrid president Santiago Bernabéu.
It has hosted the Champions League final on four occasions, most recently in 2010, and the finals of the 1964 European Championships and 1982 World Cup.
In April 1956, a record 129,690 fans crammed into the ground to watch Real take on AC Milan in a European Cup match. The stadium’s capacity is currently 81,044. However, the stadium has increased its capacity by approximately 4,000, with renovation work finishing in 2024.

The two stands at the side of the pitch are the Lateral Este, where the presidential stand is, and the Lateral Oeste. Behind both goals are the Fondo Norte and Fondo Sur.

How to get to Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid
The world-famous Santiago Bernabéu stadium is located in the Chamartin district, Madrid’s centre. It is easily accessible by public transport; however, the area close to the Santiago Bernabéu gets crowded before and after matches, with subways and buses particularly busy to get to and from the ground.
The Estación Santiago Bernabéu is a metro station located next to the stadium and on metro line 10. Meanwhile, several bus routes (14, 27, 43, 120, 147 and 150) have drop-off points close to the stadium.

Twelve years later, the Merengues led by Cristiano Ronaldo won the Décima in 2014, before once again outrageously dominating Europe with three consecutive titles under french coach Zinedine Zidane (2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18).
